Not only analysts, Apple itself also expects the iPhone 14 series to sell better than the iPhone 13 series.
Undeniably, the iPhone 13 Series has made a big splash when it has consistently topped the smartphone sales charts. And according to the report, Apple expects bigger and better things from the upcoming iPhone 14 series.
This year, Apple will offer iPhone 14 (6.1-inch screen), iPhone 14 Plus/iPhone 14 Max (6.7-inch screen), iPhone 14 Pro (6.1-inch screen) and iPhone 14 Pro Max. (6.7 inch screen). And the company is drawing a fine line between iPhone Pro and affordable iPhone models this year.
Let discover the new features on iPhone 14 that make technology followers excited.
Pill-shaped defect
This is considered the biggest design change on the iPhone in the past 5 years, since the iPhone X 2017. The area containing the front camera and sensors has been refreshed, looking like a capsule like on many Android phone.
However, Apple has turned this supposedly ugly area into a place where users can interact in different situations, thereby enhancing the user experience. The company named this part Dynamic Island.
According to The Verge, Dynamic Island can create more excitement when using as well as concealing. Some predict this feature will soon be imitated by Android companies in the near future.
The screen is always on
The Always-on Display feature has been around for a long time on Android, but first appeared on the iPhone 14 Pro duo. It works by displaying information widgets so that users can see notifications, weather, calendar… without having to turn on the screen.
According to Mashable, despite being released later than Android competitors, the iPhone feature has the upper hand in terms of display. The icons have an intuitive and interactive interface, and the wallpaper on the home screen is kept instead of having to set the wallpaper for the home screen and lock screen separately like Android.
48-megapixel camera
The camera is one of the most heavily upgraded parts of Apple since the iPhone 6s 2015. Instead of the main 12-megapixel sensor, Apple equips the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max with a 48-megapixel sensor. The sensor size is also 65% larger than the previous generation, making this area more convex than the iPhone 13 Pro.
In terms of parameters, the main camera has a lens with an aperture of f/1.78, focal length 24. Apple says the quad-pixel sensor helps maximize light capture, supporting good shooting in dark conditions. The remaining two telephoto and ultra-wide cameras on the device retain 12-megapixel resolution.
Chip A16 Bionic
The A16 Bionic is manufactured using a 4 nm process with 16 billion transistors. The CPU has six cores with two high-performance cores and four energy-efficient cores. According to Apple, this chip is 40% faster in performance and more power efficient than the iPhone 13 Pro series.
Meanwhile, the two iPhone 14 and 14 Plus models still use the A15 Bionic chip, but are more powerful on the iPhone 13 thanks to the upgraded GPU with 5 cores instead of 4 cores, helping to increase graphics processing performance.
Satellite communication
Like some previous rumors, all four iPhone 14 models can send messages and broadcast emergency signals when in an area with no mobile signal thanks to a satellite connection. According to Apple, it takes less than 15 seconds for users to send a message, as long as they are in a place “where they can see the sky”. However, this service is only available in the US and Canada and is free for the first two years with the purchase of iPhone 14.
In addition, the iPhone 14 series also supports automatic emergency calling when a traffic accident occurs. The feature also has the option to use satellite communications, which don’t require a phone signal.
Version without physical sim
Apple said that all iPhone 14 sold in the US no longer have a physical sim tray. Instead, the machine uses e-sim. As explained by the company, e-sim is more secure, easy to switch between different carriers and tariff plans.
For other markets, iPhone 14 still supports one physical sim and one e-sim or both.
New colors
The iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max add a new purple color called Deep Purple, in addition to the three previously available colors of black, gold, and silver. Meanwhile, the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus also add blue and purple colors. However, the purple color on the iPhone Pro is darker than the other two versions.
